Illustration

In my free time, when I am not studying and expanding my understanding of 3d, I create personal work in traditional media.

Traditional illustration... pencil, ink, oil, acrylic, gouache... will always be a passion of mine. I make traditional illustration to explore and flesh out my own, not-too-serious ideas. I find it relaxing, exciting, and an area where I can create imagery that is completely my own. And the ideas I get from this work inevitably give me insights into my professional work... and vice-versa.

Conceptually, while I enjoy fantasy, science fiction and darker themes, I try to steer away from the childish, simplistic and prurient (and also bland) approaches that dominate most of these genres. Instead, I try to imbue something lyrical, spiritual, humorous, or curious into every pictures.

Technically, all of the visual aspects that guide my professional graphic and 3d work also guide me in my personal work...1) dynamic expression of space and point of view using lighting and perspective, 2) pleasing, fun and harmonious composition, 3) design and style.
